PAGO A 1, TAFUNA JETS 1 (CUP CHALLENGE)
Both teams walked away shaking their heads as they both had their chances at winning the match.
The Jets’ goalie Su’e Tonise made a great save on a penalty kick in the second half but was unlucky in stopping a shot from distance by Alatina Vaiali’i that hit the near post before going into the back of the net.
Pago A goalie Moimoi Tualaulelei was also put to work as he showed his worth by making a few point blank saves and recovering in time to stop the rebound shots.
Pago A dove correctly but just missed stopping a great left-footed shot into the far post by the Jets’ Matthew Mariota for the equalizer.
The score put life into the Jets as they played with more energy but Pago A managed to hold on to the draw that allows them to hold on to the cup for another week.
VAITOGI UNITED 4, UTULEI YOUTU 2
Vaitogi United bounced back strong after losing to Pago A a week earlier in their cup challenge by taking it out on Utulei with a dominating first half.
The ball was their friend as they were quicker to it with excellent passes to their wings for inside runs that had Utulei scrambling to defend against.
By the end of a strong first half they were up 3-0. They let up in the second half with Utulei closing to within a goal but Vaitogi managed to push for another goal that saw them win 4-2.
BLACK ROSES 3, KIWI SOCCERS 0
Ino Lemana scored two goals in a one-minute span in the second half to put the game out of reach for Black Roses after a close half saw the score at 1-0.
LION HEART A 1, PAGO YOUTH B 1
Lion Heart A scored first but could not add to their total or hold back a strong performance by their younger opponent, Pago Youth B.
The tie gives Pago B their first points of the competition after losing their previous four matches since the league kicked off.
