The National Park of American Samoa’s 16-person wildland fire crew, will be returning back to American Samoa next Monday night, after an over 30-day assignment to fight wildfires in Northern California.
“We are anxious for our crew to return home safely,” acting superintendent Steve Gibbons, said in a news release yesterday. “They’ve worked hard under dangerous conditions to help fight fires in California.”
The fire crew, which departed American Samoa on August 13, will be greeted Monday night by their national park family, the statement says.
