Food Vouchers for Flag Day increased to $7

During last week Thursday’s cabinet meeting it was announced by Gov. Lolo M. Moliga that the value of the food vouchers for Flag Day this year will be increased from $5 to $7; and these vouchers will be given to those attending the festivities and Flag Day celebrations held at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Last year close to 2,000 food vouchers were issued to residents who used the vouchers at the food stalls inside the stadium. The governor said this has already gone through the Flag Day Committee and the Office of Samoa Affairs.
Secretary of Samoan Affairs Satele Galu Satele told Directors and Agency Heads that the program is not yet completed, but it’s expected to be done by next month.
Satele said Flag Day activities are already underway with the Men’s and Women’s Cricket leagues, which kicked off last Monday. He also reported that there will be nine fautasi competing in this year’s Fautasi Race, with one fautasi from Samoa and the rest will be local longboats.
