American Samoan Professional Women’s Softball Player Keilani Ricketts (center bottom row) conducted a one day Pitchers Clinic this past Friday at the Tony Solaita Baseball field working with local softball pitchers who are interested in training for regional competition like the upcoming 2015 XV Pacific Games that will be taking place Papua, New Guinea from July 4-18.

Ricketts, who distinguished herself as a star softball player at the University of Oklahoma is a two time National Softball Player of the Year, four time All American, NCAA Champion and National Professional Fast Pitch Champion.

She began her professional career in the National Pro-Fastpitch (NPF) League for Team USSSA Pride last year where she helped the Pride to win the NPF Championship. She also recently played for the Toyota Industries Shokki, part of the professional Japanese sports league where the team claimed third overall for the season.

She is here on her third sports related visit supporting the American Samoa National Olympic Committee’s (ASNOC) Women and Sports Commission co-chaired by Victor Langkilde (top left back row) and Salaia Gabbard (top right back row).

She has also agreed to assist the development of Women and Sports in American Samoa and plans to visit the territory along with her sisters, who will be helping her with the development as their schedules permit throughout the year.

The Ricketts sisters are the daughters of Jeff Ricketts and Carol Gabbard Ricketts of Leone.
