Gale warning in Tonga for Cyclone Ian cancelled

The cyclone gale warning for Tonga has been cancelled.

The Metservice says Cyclone Ian has been moving west, away from the Kingdom.

As a result, the gale warning for the Ha'apai and Vava'u group has been cancelled but a strong wind warning is still in force.

The cyclone alert for the rest of Tonga has also been cancelled.
