Man in Samoa kills himself after daughter tells sordid story
A 40-year-old father banished from his village in Savai’i after his daughter told the village about how he raped her took his life on Tuesday.
The method of killing is withheld.
But the man committed suicide following the village meeting on Tuesday.
A matai from the village, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of repercussion from the village, said the girl attends one of the colleges.
“The girl was called by the Village Council to confirm the incident that happened between her and the father and she told them everything,” the matai said.
“The council soon after visited the man and banished him from the village.”
The body of the man was later found not far from his house.
An attempt to get a comment from Police regarding the matter was unsuccessful.
Acting Commissioner of Police Afamasaga Michael So’onalole confirmed through an email that he has passed the questions on to Police Spokesperson, Fauono Talalelei Tapu.
