The 2012 Olympic Games in London, England came to an end yesterday, and Nathaniel Tuamoheloa, who competes in the sport of wrestling in the Men’s 96kg class in Freestyle for Team American Samoa, sustained an injury which made him unable to compete in the Qualifications match against Takao Isokawa of Japan on Saturday, finishing his run and ending Team American Samoa’s time in the 2012 Olympic Games.

Team Samoa’s Rudolph Berking-Williams who competed in Men’s Canoe Sprint Single (C1) 200 meters race, made it past the Heats on Friday with a time of 51.483 and into the Semi-Finals. Unfortunately for Berking-Willams, he was not able to get past the Semi-Finals on Saturday as his time of 54.471 was not fast enough to advance to the finals. On Monday, August 6, he did not make it past his Heat in the Men’s Canoe Single (C1) 1000 meters.

In the sport of Taekwondo, Team Samoa’s Talitiga Crawley who competed in the Women’s 67kg class, was drawn against eventual Gold medal winner Milica Mandic of Serbia in the preliminary round. Despite a great effort, Crawley was not able to overcome Mandic who earned 15 points by attack and 1 point by penalty, while Crawley earned only 2 attack points making the score 16-2 in favor of the Serbian.

Kaino Thomsen-Fuataga, who competed for Team Samoa also in the sport of Taekwondo, had a hard time in the preliminary round. Fuataga was pitted against eventual Silver medal winner Anthony Obame of Gabon in the Men’s 80kg class. After the first period, the score was tied 1-1 and 4-1 in favor of Obame going into the 3rd and final period. Obame was able to score 5 more points in the 3rd period while Fuataga could only pull out 1, to make the final 9-2 in favor of Obame.

Here is the final count of the medal tally, with the United States and China finishing in the top two spots and Russia making a late surge to finish in the 3rd spot , with host nation Great Britain finishing at number four for the most medals.
