NEW SAMOA COOKING OIL PROMOTED TO MILLIONS ON NEW ZEALAND TV
APIA — Production of cooking oil by a local Samoa company will be watched by millions of television viewers next week.
“The Country Calendar NZ TV programme that filmed us here a couple of months back will be airing the (episode) … featuring our oil this weekend,” says Uaea Laki Apelu, who owns the producer, Edutech Samoa Ltd, with his family.
Country Calendar, which airs programmes on farming, is well-known to generations of New Zealanders.
“It’s the oldest agricultural television show,” says Apelu, “still running after 30 years with 30 million viewers every week.”
Development of their cooking oil from coconuts took some four years.
Their sole cooking oil at home has been of coconut origins for at least that long, Apelu said.
“Likewise my children in New Zealand.”
“It’s the healthiest cooking oil in the world, next to palm oil.”
