New Mr. & Miss Polynesia Pacific will be crowned tonight in Hawaii
Honolulu, HAWAI'I — Talent, creativity and outside the box thinking—that’s what will determine the winners in tonight’s (Sept. 28, 2013) 4th Annual Mr. & Miss Polynesia Pacific Pageant, set for 5 p.m. at the 600-capacity Leeward Community College Auditorium.
“[A]nd overall wow factor,” explained Event Coordinator Ralph Malani on KITV4’s Community News Minute early this week.
Pageant presenter is Missing Polynesia, owned by Meilin Vitale-Vae and husband Richard Vae.
The pageant, Malani notes, “is not something you would think of a beauty pageant.”
“It’s more of a celebration of talent and creativity for men and women of Polynesian descent,” he told KITV4.
Eight contestants— four women and four men representing Hawai’i, Samoa, Tahiti and Aotearoa – are competing in the event that celebrates the rich heritage and culture of the Polynesian Islands.
Reigning Miss Polynesia Pacific Abby Resulta will be succeeded by one of these four beautiful contestants: Moana Henriques (Tahiti); Shiloh Phillips (Aotearoa); Brittany Auli’i Tagupa (Hawai’i) and Nile Teo (Samoa).
Mr. Polynesia Pacific Anapogi Tevaga will pass his title on to one of these four men: Keola Kaluhiokalani (Hawai’i); Jerrold Martinez (Tahiti); Keali’i O’Brien (Hawai’i) and George Tirivi Tuitele-Martin (Samoa).
“It’s a huge production,” said Malani in his KITV interview. “It’s very big, larger than life and we have vendors from all over the South Pacific selling everything from Tahitian pearls to fashion. We have food, a full bar and it’s an amazing show.”
Judges are: Tanya Letuli, Brent Anbe, Katie Doyle, Mescarzi Green and Duncan Kamakana. Pageant host is Teighlor Armani and music will be provided by Mahi Music.
