Red Flag raises warning of fire conditions for leeward areas of Hawaii slands
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning until 6 p.m. Sunday for mainly leeward areas of the Hawaiian Islands.
According to forecasters, east winds of 15 to 20 miles per hour with gusts to 30 miles per hour, along with relative humidity as low as 44 percent, has raised the danger of critical fire conditions.
The warning does not predict new fire starts, but indicates that any wildfires that are started can spread quickly and dangerously because of the high winds and low humidity.
