Faipule praise ASPA, noting professional and prompt service
Representatives from Fagatogo and Tualauta Districts have nothing but great things to say about the ASPA teams who are installing and repairing streetlights in their Districts, as was evident in a letter sent to ASPA CEO Utu Abe Malae.
Rep Florence Vaili Saulo noted that earlier this year she embarked on a mission to assist the people of Tualauta as one of their chosen representatives. She pointed out that problems were numerous and her success in assisting Tualauta residents depended on finding the right people in public service who were willing to assist at a moment’s notice.
“I came to you in March seeking your help with some of the families that had endured the years without the benefit of electricity, as well as the need to repair some of the streetlights not only for convenience, but for security and crime prevention purposes."
"Under your leadership, the American Samoa Power Authority (ASPA) was quick to respond. After several months of continuous and intensive work, I am very pleased to see Tualauta District streetlights restored to working order."
“I know that the list of families and streetlights that I provided at your request presented a formidable task, however, I was very impressed with the efficiency and professionalism showed by the ASPA employees who carried out the work.” Rep Saulo said, pointing out employees such as Sofeni Lualemaga, Aukuso Talaeai, Taumaloto Leseali’i, Kapeli Mikaele, and Paul Ameperosa to name a few.
“Despite the scorching sun and drenching rain their dedication remained true to the work at hand. And while this letter may only mention a few individuals, I am sure that they are representative of the caliber of the people under your management that provide the utilities services for our Territory.”
She applauded Utu for extending his tenure with ASPA, given that his leadership is what is needed and this continuous partnership in getting help out to where it’s needed will continue to benefit the people of Tualauta for a long time. "For now, I only wanted to say “Thank You” for your help and service" she wrote.
Rep Mauagaoali’i Leapai Sipa Anoa’i also expressed his sincere appreciation to ASPA and the line crew for the work performed in Fagatogo on Aug. 5, 2013 with the repairing of Fagatogo’s street lights. “I commend the wonderful job by Mr. Tau Lavata’i and the three line crew that were tasked with this responsibility. The conduct and skills by which they performed their jobs were truly admirable and very professional.”
Rep Maugaoali’i pointed out along with the twenty one street lights that was scheduled for repair, the ASPA crew was also able to include an additional six lights in areas that were not in their original list but was indeed in dire need.
“The completion of these street lights in Fagatogo and along the waterfront area, and the trimming of trees, has given a much improved look and quality that certainly lends itself to the safety of everyone in our community."
“However, in addition to the work performed, we have found several electrical poles and street lights during our repair and assessment that need to be replaced. Mr. Tau Lavata’i has noted these concerns and will inform your establishment of our findings and perhaps with your favorable approval this work can be scheduled at a later time”.
