Death of former health minister of Samoa

Samoa’s former minister of health, Mulitalo Siafausa Vui, has died at the Tupua Tamasese Mea’ole, hospital in Apia from a heart failure according to an outpatient nurse.

Mulitalo was the ruling HRPP party whip for many years and had held the seat of Fa’asale’leaga number four constituency in parliament.

He was the government’s leading minister in the establishment of the Kidney Foundation and the dialysis unit which allowed local kidney patients who were treated overseas to return to the country and continue their treatments.

The policy was also a government move to decrease spending on kidney patients sent overseas for treatments.
