Matson marks six months of shipping to American Samoa with enhanced service
After six months of providing a very stable and reliable shipping service direct from New Zealand on a 21-day shipping schedule, Matson South Pacific is pleased to announce an enhancement to its current service from New Zealand to American Samoa.
Utilizing its vessels the MV “Liloa” and MV “Olomana”, the two Matson vessels will now operate in tandem ensuring a regular and dependable fortnightly service from New Zealand to Lautoka and Suva, Apia and then direct to Pago Pago.
The fortnightly service will also improve the current connections from Pago Pago to Nukualofa and Vava’u, and open up new connections to the Cook Islands (fortnightly) and Niue (every 28 days).
“As an independent shipping company, Matson has quickly built a reputation for reliability and dependability and the feedback from our customers and the wider community has been extremely positive. We are excited that we can now also offer more frequent access to New Zealand for American Samoan importers and exporters, for family sending goods to Tonga plus open up new opportunities for markets in the Cook Islands and Niue”, commented La’auli Michael Jones, Matson Strategic Development Manager and ex All Black.
The new service will commence with MV Olomana 017 departing Tauranga on the 18th of July, Auckland on the 19th of July, arriving in Pago Pago on the 29th of July.
