Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball league underway

The Department of Parks and Recreation had the opening of their ‘2012 Open Co-ed Slow Pitch Softball League’ this past Saturday with 14 teams in this year’s league taking their place on the Tony Solaita Baseball Field. 

Samoa News spoke with the Deputy Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation Pili Gaoteote who said, “I want to thank everyone who showed up today in support of the league. We had a great turnout today, with everyone ready to have a good time.”

Sports Coordinator of the Department of Parks and Recreation Dave Godinet also invites everyone out to all of the games. “I want to welcome everyone to the league and I invite the public out all of the games… We hope that we are putting out positive reinforcement to everyone to stay active. The games are played from Monday through Friday starting at 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday’s we start play at 8:30 a.m. and it usually goes on through part of the day until about 2:00 p.m. with different teams playing.” All of the games are played at the Tony Solaita Baseball Field.

Here are this year’s teams:

Group A: Outbacks, Atafa Pro Tafuna, Kip McGrath, Nu’uuli Aumaga I, DPW, Manumalo Baptist.

Group B: ASPA, Launiusaelua, Nu’uuli Meto, Pago Pago Eagles I, ASCO Motors, Go Green, Atafa Pro Alao, Leone Angels.
