Leone HS students travel to Samoa and entertain Head of State
Students from Leone High School in American Samoa enjoyed a rare opportunity to perform in front of the Head of State, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Efi and the Masiofo, Her Highness Filifilia Tamasese yesterday.
More than 50 students of the Taumafai Choir delivered a wonderful performance much to the delight of their Highnesses.
Overwhelmed by the opportunity to entertain the Head of State, group leader Falesau Peteru Malaga said the opportunity comes once in a lifetime.
Falesau said even the parents of the students and teachers were looking forward to the trip to see their Highnesses.
“The Head of State did not hesitate to accept our request when we asked last year if we could perform for him on our visit this year,” he said. “It’s a rare opportunity for the class, parents and teachers from American Samoa to sit down for a day with their Highnesses which means we are giving a hundred percent performance today.
“We are grateful to be here to share the talents of our children from abroad and we also hope to learn from other schools.”
According to Falesau, a previous class of the Taumafai Choir were also fortunate to sing for the late Head of State Malietoa Tanumafili II.
