Cool Stuff: Switch 8, HK 7's Prep 1
So I’m only a few months late with my installments of Cool Stuff — so Rhonda punishes me by routing my Hong Kong 7's Rugby trip 35 miles south of the North Korean border (aka Demilitarized Zone... DMZ... ,yeah thanks) during high tensions. She tried to explain that Patty recommended that while I was in the "hood" (the continent of Asia) I could shoot some photos of North Korean tanks rolling through the Inchon Intl Airport, while I sit idly in the Hawaiian Airlines Premier Club Lounge.
Hey Rhonda & Patty... fa'afetai tele nada!
I could be doing something more constructive like... hunting down a Kim Chee Burger in the terminal instead.
The Hawaiian Airlines 767 aircraft from Honolulu to Seoul (the same we all fly home to Samoa) is a great proven jet... but lacks those lovely USB charging sockets on the seat backs featured on Hawaiian's other Airbus planes. So when I deplane to shoot action attack photos of those wacky Dennis Rodman inspired North Korean soldiers, my iPhone will be charged by my Goal Zero Switch 8 pocket charger.
At only $39, my Switch 8 will charge my iPhone twice or alternatively give my iPad mini a 25% emergency charge. It will even give my Drift Ghost HD action POV video camera a righteous charge.
Transiting, I will not be fighting with those goofy travelers over one inconvenient plug, or standing for an hour at a charging station.
The Switch 8 is like a mini flashlight on your pocket... it’s comfortably round, always with me, and features indicator blue LED's that gives me power remaining status levels.
So let’s say we are hanging at your family's Savaii taro plantation... since my LDS family relatives never have any chilled Vailima. For $99, the Switch 8 comes with a small solar panel so your iphone is shooting YouTube vids and blasting JanWillem Van der Beek's (Samoan Skip's Family uce) latest Natural Roots Reggae album, "Words of Jah" thru your bluetooth speaker...non stop.
And it’s probably the latest bluetooth speaker you made me buy for you in Hong Kong, that Fili will make me write a Cool Stuff column about between Manu Samoa and NZ 7's games.
Fili, Rhonda, & Patty really crack the whip on me when I miss deadlines. Whaddayah gonna do guys, fly me home via Damascus, Syria to teach me another lesson?
You think I am kidding? Last HK 7's they had me out of Hong Kong to Narita, Japan on a Lithium Battery Special, a Boeing 777 Dreamliner.
The Samoa News has a team of 3 photographers covering this years HK 7's. So expect to see your ahi, from the fish market, wrapped in great Manu Samoa action shots.
Soifua, Coolios
