PHOTOS: ISLAND WIDE HISTORY DAY WINNERS NAMED

Tafuna High School students Seniors and sisters, Marcella Fitisone and Allison Fitisone were the first place overall winners in this year’s American Samoa Island Wide History Day Competition 2013 finals last Saturday at Kanana Fou High School with their project ‘World War II: The transformation of American Samoa’.
 
They also earned the ‘Young Historian Award’, and are eligible to attend the Kenneth E. Behring National History Day contest at the University of Maryland at College Park this coming June 9-13.
 
Leone High School Junior Mika Aga  took first place in the category of Historical Paper and 3rd place overall in this year’s American Samoa Island Wide History Day Competition 2013.
 
This year’s History Day theme is, ‘Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events’. The top three overall winners from this year’s contest will be attending the National History Day at the University of Maryland at College Park.
