In Samoa News, Wednesday, Jan. 29 publication, a story, “Former treasurer reveals why Road Maintenance Fund was taken from DPW”, incorrectly stated that ASPA has not paid excise duty (fee) on its fuel since it became a fuel supplier. According to a Customs Division official, ASPA has paid and continues to pay the excise tax, as mandated by law. The Customs’ official also said that as far as their office knows, 10¢ is paid to the road maintenance fund, not 1¢.

Samoa News apologizes to its readers for its mistake, and notes that it is corporate taxes that are no longer paid since ASPA became a ‘fuel supplier’, as it is a public entity, not private sector.
