UPDATE: NOAA forecasts heavy rain, gusty winds
The National Weather Service in Pago Pago updated at 4 PM a special weather statement for Tutuila, Aunuu, the Manua Islands and Swains.
According to NOAA, American Samoa can expect strong gusts of wind and heavy rainfall through Tuesday.
An active trough located near the Samoan islands will trigger fresh to strong winds and higher gusts through Tuesday. Clouds and scattered showers associated with the trough will move across American Samoa also through Tuesday.
Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph will impact the territory tonight and Tuesday. Locally heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms will move across territory tonight and Tuesday.
