Pasifika Festival organisers hunt for fresh talent

The organisers of the expanded Pasifika Festival in Auckland say they are on the hunt for fresh talent to perform in next year’s event.

Auckland City’s Tourism, Events and Economic Development agency is conducting auditions until Sunday to find performers for the 21st Pasifika Festival to be held in March.

The festival organiser, Ole Maiava, says the event has expanded to two days as a result of its popularity.

“We are trying with the auditions to look at emerging artists and it’s really people that are up and coming in terms of the Pacific communities, as well as acts that haven’t performed at the Pasifika for a long time.”

Ole Maiava says he is expecting about 2000 people to perform on the 11 stages at next year’s event.
