ASHSAA Girls Varsity Volleyball begins playoff season
The American Samoa High School Athletic Association (ASHSAA) Girls Varsity Volleyball season is now in their playoff season with the Quarter-Finals taking place last Saturday and today.
Last Saturday, the #1 seeded Tafuna Warriors took on the #8 seeded South Pacific Academy Dolphins, while the #2 seeded Leone Lions played host to the #7 seeded Nu’uuli Voc-Tech Wildcats. The end result of both these games was no surprise, as both the Warriors and Lions took victories over the lower seeded teams.
In the other Quarter-Final games that will be taking place today, the #3 seeded Faga’itua Vikings will be playing host to the #6 seeded Kanana Fou Stallions, as the #4 seeded ASHSAA defending champion Samoana Sharks will play the #5 Fa’asao Marist Crusaders at Samoana High School, with both of these games having a scheduled starting time of 4:30 p.m.
In the Semi-Final playoffs this coming Wednesday November 28, the Warriors will be playing the winner of today’s Vikings and Stallions game, while the Lions will be waiting on the winner of the Sharks and Crusaders for the other Semi-Final game this coming Wednesday.
The hot team going into the playoffs are the Vikings who won their last five regular season games, with one of those wins coming against the Lions, giving the Lions their first loss of the year. Can the Warriors remain on the current win streak, or will they be knocked off in the playoffs? Or will the Sharks step up in these playoffs and retain their championship title?
In the final standings of the Junior Varsity Division, the Faga’itua Vikings finished the season with the best record in the standings, with the official confirmation of the champions coming this week.
