Conman on the run in Samoa

A prisoner, described by the Samoa Police as a “conman” is on the run and the Police are calling on members of the public to help them find him.

Iopu Tema, 44,is from Puleia Savai’i. He also has connections to Faia’ai and Salua Manono.

Police Spokesperson and Assistant Commissioner, Le’aupepe Fatu Pula said Iopu was in custody after he was convicted of credit fraud.

He could not confirm when and where the incidents took place.

“He started serving his time on 11 October,” said Le’aupepe. “His term hasn't finished but he ran away from Tafaigata prison on 1st of November.

“There is a possibility that he might the culprit in many cases where people have reported being fooled by a conman.
