BAND OF ‘TOA O SAMOA’BROTHERS DEPLOY TO AFGHANISTAN
Samoan Soldiers stationed in Bamberg, Germany; assigned to various organizations within the 173D Airborne Brigade Combat Team prepare to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) - Afghan Freedom.
PV2 Stanley joined the September 2011 and is from Modesto, California; this is his first deployment. SGT Filoiali’i (2009, Manu’a), and SPC Niko (2008, Utulei) are all preparing for their second deployment. CW2 Moaga from Tafuna has already arrived in country and SGT Yoruw (2003 Yap, Micronesia) is scheduled to follow soon; both are being deployed for the fourth time.
Although these Soldiers come from different walks of life, together they bring a new meaning to the term ‘Band of Brothers’and embrace the title of Toa O Samoa! They are expected to be reunited with their loved ones mid-2013.
