Chiefly titles bestowed at Aufaga, Samoa

Samoa Observer

Seven descendents of Silupevaelei and Fiame Naomi Mata’afa Faumuina II at Aufaga were blessed with chiefly matai titles on Saturday morning.

Paramount chief, Tupuola Titi said the occasion was a dream come true for their family. He told the Samoa Observer that the time is right for new matai to serve the family, village and the churches in Aufaga.

“I am looking forward to having these new matai to serve our family for the benefit of not only their families, but also the village and churches here in our village,” Tupuola said. The new titleholders have the family’s blessings after extensive consultations. The sa’otama’ita’i title “Seutatia” was also bestowed on one of the family members during the ceremony.
