Assistant AG Hyde comes onboard

The newest lawyer admitted to the American Samoa bar is Assistant Attorney General Kimberly Hyde from Lincoln, Nebraska.

Ms Hyde moved to American Samoa in May. She attended University of Nebraska for both college and law school where she graduated in 2001 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree with majors in International Studies and German and minor in Political Science.She graduated from law school in 2006 with an emphasis in International Law.

Ms Hyde has worked for 5 years as an Assistant State Attorney, one year in Polk County, Florida and for 4 years in Vero Beach, Indian River County, Florida.

She’s a member of the bar in Nebraska, Washington D.C. and Florida and as of May 23 also in American Samoa.

Ms Hyde was sworn into the bar by Chief Justice Michael Kruse last month.

She’s currently working with the criminal division of the Attorney General’s office under the supervision of Deputy Attorney General Mitzie Jessop Folau.

Ms Hyde told Samoa News, “I love being able to get outside and explore and hike and go snorkeling, the views and scenery are amazing”.

She added that the photos she saw of the island before arriving in the territory definitely didn't do it justice.
