New information available on road maintenance fund

Information available through the fiscal year 2012 budget for the ASG Road Maintenance Fund - funded with a percent from the gasoline excise tax - shows that about $650,000 is allocated in FY 2012 for this program.

The amount is not enough to upkeep the deteriorating road conditions island wide which has gotten worse over the past week and half due to heavy rain.

A breakdown of expenditures shows that $260,000 is allocated for Materials & Supplies; $50,000 for Contractual Services, $323,000 for Equipment (vacuum truck, etc); and Personnel & Utilities with $17,000.

Samoa News has received several public inquiries about the total money allocated for this program.
