Fort Knox High School graduate Masele Lefiti (back middle) with her Samoan brothers who performed the “Siva Tau” that astounded graduation attendees. The highlight caught the crowd’s attention and they were amazed at how Samoan youth hold on to their tradition and culture, their sense of pride, and respect.

The Samoan Christian Youth of Fort Knox, Kentucky dedicated their Siva Tau to their sister Masele Salema Lefiti, daughter of Mario and Tafa Lefiti of Ta’u Manua, Fagatogo, and Leone, American Samoa.

As some youth of today ridicule their cultures and traditions, these young men fulfilled their Samoan heritage duty with honor. Two of the performers, Faasala and Mamea recently returned from Afghanistan after serving a year of deployment. Even in boonies of Kentucky, the Samoan tradition is alive and well.
