Youngsters practice their tennis skills with Dave Godinet of the American Samoa Tennis Association last Saturday at Utulei Beach Park, during the opening of Ocean Week.

Tennis is one of the sports featured in this year’s Department of Parks and Recreation ‘2012 Summer Youth Program,’ Free Sports Clinic and Tournament. Registration has already begun, with some sports clinics already underway. The program organizers are still looking for individuals to learn the fine arts of certain sports including: baseball, basketball, flag football, tennis, track and field, volleyball, open water swimming and wrestling.

At the end of the program, there will be a ‘Mini Games’ where each participant will be competing in their respective sport, to showcase what they have learned during the clinics.

“I invite any young person who is interested in learning a sport to contact us. If any parents out there wish to have their child keep themselves occupied in a good positive way during the summer, sign them up as soon as possible. You still have time left. The registration will be open until Monday May 28,” said Ken Tupua of the Department of Parks and Recreation 2012 Summer Youth Program Free Sports Clinic and Tournament.

For more information you can contact the Department of Parks and Recreation at their main office at 699-9513, recreation office 699-0170, Ken Tupua 770-0631, or Dave Godinet 258-9145.
