Sofias name new Miss
The Society of Fafafine’s in American Samoa (SOFIAS) presented its 29th Beauty Pageant, with this year’s theme ‘Exotic By Nature,’ that saw the 2011-2012 winner Miss Trina Tui pass her crown to the new MISS SOFIA, Miss Tepatasi Vaina.
Miss Tepatasi Vaina, was crowned the new MISS SOFIAS for 2012-2013, in front of an overflowing crowd, which saw one of the most hotly contested pageants in the territory deliver polished, sophisticated and highly talented performances that at times had the audience in tears and laughter, as well as eliciting resounding ‘hurrahs’.
All five contestants were seen giving it their all this past Saturday at the Governor H. Rex Lee Auditorium, in an event that was televised live to the local community by KVZK TV.

The Society of Fafafine in American Samoa, holds as its motto, ‘Ia e Ola Malamalama I lou Fa’asinomaga, or ‘Be of Virtue and Pride in Your Identity’. The mission of SOFIAS is to foster stable relationships amongst the fa’afine community in American Samoa by providing educational outreach events and promoting maturity and respect toward others that will enable individuals to achieve educational goals and contribute to the social and cultural well being of every fa’afine living in American Samoa.
