Lt. Gov. Faoa A. Sunia, co-chair of the 2012 Flag Day Committee, issued a Mar. 30 memorandum with the appointed members and chairs of the Coordinating Committees for the 2012 Flag Day.

“I ask that the chairpersons of each committee make sure that those who are appointed to various committees understand that there is an overtime freeze in government,” he said in the memo. “Work on Flag Day activities is voluntary beyond a scheduled 40-hour work week.”

There are 14 coordinating committees, which include fautasi race, cricket, VIP, finance, communication and security.

American Samoa will celebrate on Apr. 17 a 112 year political relationship with the United States. It's unclear, to date, if the Flag Day celebration will be one or two days. The governor is expected to issue an official announcement next week .
