Silver Medal winner and Olympic hopeful returns tomorrow
CJ Floor Jr., who recently earned a Silver Medal at the African/Oceania Qualification Tournament representing American Samoa in the sport of wrestling last week in Morocco, will be returning home on this Thursday night’s flight, according to his father Carl Floor Sr.
The silver medal winner has qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England, that will be taking place from this July 27-August 12.
The Senior Floor wishes to invite everyone out to the airport on Thursday night, in joining him welcoming home American Samoa’s Olympian. “All of the training, money spent, endless road trips around the country (US mainland), has really paid off,” said the elder Floor.
“When I coached CJ and the New York National team at his success at becoming a USA Cadet National champion and my son Sean becoming an All American by placing third, was a great accomplishment, but what CJ did far outweighs those previous accomplishments.
“If wrestlers here understand commitment and sacrifice following an example CJ has set forth, than great things will be in their future as well. I invite everyone out to join me (tonight), when my son arrives to welcome him home. He will be representing American Samoa in the highest plateau of sports competition that the world has to offer, by competing against the best of the best in one of the oldest sports known to mankind... wrestling. I am a proud father that is watching his son do what he loves to do and thriving at it.”
CJ Floor, Jr. earned his way to the Olympics competing in the 96kg class in Freestyle Wrestling, which saw him earn a Silver in the last Oceania qualifiers in Australia, and another silver in Morrocco .
The young wrestler is originally from the state of New York, and is of Samoan descent coming from the Sagapolutele family. Port Jervis in New York is where the Floors come from, which boasts some of the best wrestlers in the country.
The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the XXX ‘Olympiad or London 2012 Games’ are scheduled to take place in London, England, United Kingdom from this July 27 to August 12, 2012.
