Samoa police probe death of 8 year-old
The police in Samoa say no charges have been laid in relation to the death of an eight year old who is alleged to have died as a result of being beaten by a teacher.
The Assistant Police Commissioner Leaupepe Fatu Pula says the girl had been at home feeling unwell last week and died on her way to hospital.
He says there is speculation over what caused her death, including her family’s belief she had received corporal punishment:
“Alleged that the girl was assaulted by the teacher but we believe that also the girl had medical history. So we are awaiting a results of a post mortem.”
Leaupepe Fatu Pula says investigations are continuing.
