The Islandwide Volleyball Association has officially kicked off its Flag Day League for 2012. Legae’e Mauga President of the Islandwide Volleyball Association, said for the Men’s A Division a total of six teams are participating and nine teams for the Men’s B Division. He said five teams are playing in the Women’s division.

The games are being held at the American Samoa Community College gymnasium. Legae’e told Samoa News that despite the association wanting to include the -Under 19 Teams- for both girls and boys but unfortunately, there are only a few players, so they have them playing with the other divisions.

He added that some of the teams who always participated in the league are unable to play this during this year’s league because the players are occupied with other games, like soccer or cricket teams from their villages.

He said the league will continue on from Feb 4 to March 24 - for a total of eight playing days including the holiday-(Presidents Day). He said they will also hold the Flag Day Open Tournament in the month of April which teams from Samoa will also be invited.
