Sen. Seui Laau passed away last night (Thursday) at about 11:30pm at LBJ Medical Center. He was 69 years old, according to his son Rep. Larry Sanitoa.

Seui’s wife, Palepa and his family were at the hospital at the time of his passing, Sanitoa told Samoa News early this morning. A brief church service was held at the hospital chapel, attended by Gov. Togiola Tulafono, First Lady Mary Ann, three senators, members of the cabinet, and village leaders.

At the time of his passing, Seui chaired the Senate Government Operations Committee and was a member of several Senate standing committees.
