Family wants to keep alleged $20 baby
The mother who allegedly tried to sell her baby for SAT$20 does not want to give her baby away. President of Samoa Victim Support Group Lina Chang told the Sunday Samoan that the family is “capable of looking after the three month old baby”.
Chang said they visited the family on Friday and were told
by the family that “they don’t want to give up the baby and are okay to care for him.” “We don’t encourage it (baby sale) and we are there to assist the family.
From what we’ve seen, the family is very loving and I believe that they are capable and can give the baby the care he needs,” she said.
Chang explained that the group were unaware of the “baby sale” but were approached by the husband of the alleged mother last week.
