First cruise ship for 2012— MS Regatta

The first cruise ship of 2012 visited the territory yesterday, the MS Regatta, which carried its 684 passengers and 400 crew members into port, where they took in the sights and sounds of the local scenery, and tried local cuisine throughout the day. The Regatta was built by Renaissance as an R Class cruise ship. She is owned and operated by Oceania Cruises where she is part of their Regatta Class.

According to oceaniacruises.com, she has open seating restaurants, a world class fitness center and spa, 8 lounges and bars, a casino and 342 suites. Gross tonnage is 30,277, length is 593.7 feet, cruising speed 18 knots and port of registry is the Marshall Islands.

Before making its way to American Samoa, the MS Regatta made stops in Tahiti —Papeete, Moorea, Raiatea and Bora Bora. After the visit to the territory, it will stop in Fiji, Lautoka, Port Vila, Noumea, Isle of Pines, and the Bay of Islands, while ending in Auckland, New Zealand.
