Impeachment bid against CNMI governor fails
The impeachment bid against the Northern Marianas Governor for 16 allegations of felony, corruption, and neglect of duty failed to get the numbers yesterday.
The milestone resolution against Benigno Fitial failed to pass in the House of Representatives session, securing only nine of 14 "yes" votes needed.
House minority leader Joe Deleon Guerrero said he was disappointed with the outcome and the ultimate cover up the House leadership showed when it refused to grant a few days’ extension to review the committee report based on evidence.
Those for or against the impeachment crowded the House chamber, lobby, and hallways, spilling into the front of the legislative building.
Most of those supporting the governor showed up in red shirts or blouses.
