SAMOA’S LALOMANU BEACH IN LONELY PLANET’S TOP 10

LONELY PLANET PICK: Upolu’s alluring Lalomanu Beach is number seven on the list. [Samoa Observer]

Trusted travel resource Lonely Planet has ranked Samoa’s Lalomanu Beach seventh on a list of exquisite locations that range from Cape Verde to Panama.

Describing the destination as ‘the perfect spot for swimming and snorkeling’, the Lonely Planet website sings Samoa’s praises for its well recognised Lalomanu Beach which runs along the south coast of Upolu – and which was severely devastated by the 2009 tsunami.

It goes as far as thanking God for Samoa and the South Pacific, which it sees as “the keeper of more sea, sand and sun than any person can cram in a lifetime”.

The Lonely Planet, which is the world’s most successful travel publisher, having printed over 100million books and guides in more than nine different languages, portrays Lalomanu Beach as a ‘kind of paradisiacal virtual reality for jaded Westerners’.
