Samoa Sevens returns home 8th in ranking

The Samoa Sevens Team is due to arrive tonight Tuesday night, Dec. 13 after finishing the third round of the first leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series held in South Africa. At the completion of the first leg (Gold Coast, Dubai and Port Elizabeth) Samoa is placed at 8th position.

Samoa Sevens Head Coach Stephen Betham says “the first leg was tough especially with the introduction of our young players, but on a positive note most of the young players gained valuable experience and we look at hoping to stretch higher on the tournament table with the remaining legs, but we have to go an extra mile in order to achieve it”

The next leg is held in Wellington on the 3rd and 4th and Las Vegas United States of America on the 10th and 12th Feb 2012 .Samoa is drawn in Pool A with New Zealand, Scotland and Japan.

The Runner Up in Port Elizabeth, Republic of South Africa is leading pool B with England, USA, and Cook. Islands, Gold Coast winner Fiji, lead pool C with Wales Argentina and Tonga, while France is pooled with Australia, Canada, and Kenya.
