Samoa: Alleged murderer fined $350
The man accused of killing his wife and unborn baby last month has been fined for nearly ending the life of an 11-year-old boy. Asola Sofara, 26, was convicted and fined $350 for negligent driving causing injury in a separate incident in September. The Court heard that Sofara, of Faleasi’u, was heading home after a game at Falelatai.
At Faleatiu, an 11-year-old boy who was playing near the road ran onto the path of Sofara’s vehicle. He was hit, thrown in the air, landed on the hood of the car and was carried for some ten metres. The Court was told the defendant was speeding. The boy was in a coma for three days. He sustained two cuts on his head and injuries to his left leg and right ear.
