Poly Blue takes 16 flights a day to PPG for holidays

An increase in passengers has seen up to 16 Polynesian Blue flights travelling between Apia and American Samoa on a daily basis. General manager, Taua Fatu Tielu told the Samoa Observer yesterday that this was to deal with the outgoing passengers to American Samoa.

Prior to Christmas and up till next week, flights have been scheduled for 6:30 am up till midnight.  “Were trying to take everybody back to Pago Pago,” he said. “This has meant a 50 percent load factor on the return flights.” Fortunately there are two planes to cope with five pilot crews to cope with the demand.

Taua noted that the schedule is organized to ensure that pilots are flying within the allocated hours of duty.
