Name change urged for Miss South Pacific Pageant
Miss Papua New Guinea, Sarah Karo and her entourage want the pageant to be known as Miss Pacific. In using Miss South Pacific, Miss Karo says it does not reflect Papua’s New Guinea’s demographic location on the map.
This was supported by Chairman of the PNG pageant committee, Dr Misimoa Lam. He says it’s an issue they have quietly protested for some time. “We intend to raise the issue while we are here in Apia with the pageant committee because Papua New Guinea is not part of the South Pacific so the name excludes us,” said Dr Lam.
