The decision on whether Miss South Pacific will be known as Miss Pacific will not be known till the Board meets next year.

Meanwhile delegations at the recent pageant were advised to write proposals and submit them for consideration.

Samoa Tourism Authority CEO, Matatamali’i Sonja Hunter says the proposals will be handled by her office as the pageant secretariat and submitted to pageant chairman, Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and Board. The next meeting is in July next year.

In renaming the pageant as Miss Pacific, there would be more candidates from the region that could join. Even as Miss South Pacific, young women have represented the Federated States of Micronesia, Hawaii and others, in the past.

The push for the Miss Pacific is to include other nations in the mid and Northern Pacific.
