Former Cabinet member Meloma Afuola passes away

Former cabinet member Meloma Afuola passed away on Oct. 27 in Honolulu at the age of 69. Her remains were returned to the territory earlier this week. Day one of her funeral services was Friday while the final church and burial service is set for Saturday at her home in Vatia.

Mrs. Afuola served in past administrations as Chief Procurement Officer, Administrative Services Department director and Budget and Planning Office director as well as deputy treasurer. She also served a president of the Development Bank of American Samoa.

At the time of her passing Mrs. Afuola was president of the Women's Aglow International, American Samoa.

Samoa News extends our deepest condolences to her husband Deputy Secretary of Samoan Affairs Nanai Afuola and her family in their time of grief.
