The crew of Samoa’s Vaatele Gaualofa will seek the blessings of the Head of State Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi and Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi before they leave on their next voyage this Saturday.

Led by Aiga Folau o Samoa (Samoa Voyaging Society) president Tuatagaloa Joe, the crew of 16, will travel to San Diego, USA, to pick up their canoe that was left there after their journey across the Pacific last year.

Tuatagaloa told the Sunday Samoan that last year’s voyage was from Samoa to Tonga, Auckland, Tahiti up to Hawaii, San Francisco and their final stop in San Diego. The fleet’s next long voyage will be from San Diego to Samoa sailing back through Mexico and then via Tahiti and the Cook Islands to Tonga and to Samoa.
