PUALELE FOUNDATION GETS NEW OFFICE AND DONATIONS

The local non-profit Pualele Foundation, which provides stress management and crisis counseling, has moved into their new offices at the Savali Print Shop in Nu’uuli.

According to the group, their new landlord is providing the office space and utilities free of charge and other supporters donated tables and chairs, which enabled the start of their in-house training.



$1.5 million more in refunds released by Treasury

Approximately $1.15 million was released Friday afternoon for those who filed their tax returns up to Jan. 25, said Tax Office manager Melvin Joseph.

$725,372 (63%) of the total refund batch released yesterday was for the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), funded by the US Internal Revenue Service, $426,171 (37%) is for local returns.

The overall total of tax refunds released since the beginning of January now stands at $2.27 million with $854,915 in local and $1.42 million for ACTC.



Nominations to fill LBJ Board's vacated seats introduced

A former senator and former ASG Treasurer are the latest appointments made by Gov. Togiola Tulafono to the American Samoa Medical Center board of directors.

Fa’amausili Mau Mau, Jr. and Gaea Perefoti Failautusi's nominations were introduced in the Senate Friday and assigned to the Senate Health/LBJ Hospital Committee for review.

Under local law the five-member LBJ board of directors is appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate only.
