There was a total of $70,000 issued from the Eastern District funding for the Pago Pago Village water project according to the ledger report, which members of the Pago Pago Village Council are disputing.
 
Pulu Ae Ae Jr and Pago Pago Representative Va’amua Henry Sesepasara told Samoa News they are only aware of a $25,000 check issued to Hudson Contracting Company, which built the village water project.
 

Customs Officer Francis Maluia through his attorney, Fiti Sunia has written to Human Resources Director, Le’i Sonny Thompson to rescind his decision to place Maluia on annual leave until further notice. The move by the HR Director followed recommendations from Treasurer Dr Falema’o Phil Pili.
 

The Territorial Office of Fiscal Reform (TOFR) has raised concerns over its status as a government entity, especially since the executive order which created TOFR has since expired while it continues to work under the Treasury Department, according to TOFR’s Second Quarter Performance Report for FY 2013.

Progress is finally evident in repairing the territory's 'worst roads' as the Department of Public Works moves forward with the 3-R (restoration, rehabilitation, and resurfacing) project which is being funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHwA) to the tune of $7,185,907.24 under a contract awarded to McConnell Dowell.

The Navy will announce that a new destroyer will be named after U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, one of the most influential members of the Senate during his 50-year tenure, a tenacious fighter for the betterment of Hawaii and a stalwart military supporter.

Inouye died Dec. 17 of a respiratory ailment at age 88.

The Arleigh-Burke destroyer, DDG-118, will be named after Inouye as part of future years defense planning, sources said.

Samoan Language Week has been the catalyst for several Samoan businesses to exhibit not only their wares but to also show their love and support for their mother tongue.

This weekend the Pasifika Education Centre (PEC) and the Samoan Business Network will launch a joint promotion to celebrate Samoan Language Week.

This year's theme is "Fafaga fanau i upu ma tala. Tautala i lau gagana" which translates to "Feed the children with words and stories. Speak your language."

Senior awards night Tuesday night at Coronado High School in Henderson, Nevada was an exciting night for two cousins with local ties. Timothy J McMoore-Tuamoheloa and Tasiaiafe Hiner are the only Samoan students in the school U.S. News & World Report has named “One of America’s top public schools.” 
 
Both young men are graduating with high honors including the President’s Award for Academic Excellence.

Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga for “support of the Stranding Response activity in the Territory, concerning permission for 24-hour use of the stranding response truck, as strandings can happen any time of the day.
