Depending on Federal Aviation Administration inspection and the acquisition of liability insurance under Inter Island Airways, the ASG Sega’ula aircraft will be re-branded under the banner of “Manu’a Air” with the hope of launching Ofu air service in August this year, says Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, the governor’s executive assistant.
 

Decolonization and the territory’s political status, economic development and the federal Essential Air Service program are some of the issues discussed by Gov. Lolo Matalasi Moliga and Interior Department’s Office of Insular Affairs executive director Nikolao Pula during a meeting held over the weekend in Honolulu.
 

The American Samoa Power Authority yesterday issued a statement warning the public  about a fraudulent check scheme that may potentially affect local customers.
 
The letter is from a company called “Apple Instant Payment Inc.” based in Ontario, Canada and they claim that the recipient is a winner in a sweepstakes or lottery draw with a check issued in their name, from the “American Samoa Power Authority”.

The event, which was attended by more than two-thousand Filipinos in the territory, was held at the Tafuna High School Gymnasium last Saturday.

As promised earlier in the year, Gov. Lolo Matalasi Moliga is moving to either sell or lease two ASG assets — the Fo’isia vessel and the Sega’ula aircraft. Both were acquired by the Togiola Administration purportedly to address air and ocean transportation service for the Manu’a island group, where Ofu and Olosega islands have been without commercial air service for some three years.
 

A man charged in connection with 14 burglaries involving six stores, a church, two restaurants and five homes allegedly told police about a series of burglaries he had committed because, “it would relieve him of all the bad things that he had done and that had been weighing on him and his mind,” court documents say. Joseph Iakopo is now behind bars with bail set at $150,000 for 34 criminal counts, including burglary first and second degree, attempted burglary, stealing, first degree assault and property damage.
