“WE’RE READY” SAYS CAPTAIN SAVALI TALAVOU ALE, SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE

It’s an experience of a lifetime for House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale to participate in a fautasi race, not as a rower but as Captain and Skipper of the Fono’s fautasi. “The Fono and the Governor’s Office fautasi are in it to spice up the spirit of celebration for American Samoa’s 116 birthday,” he told Samoa News. “And we were happy when this was brought to our attention by the Governor’s office. I am happy the Fono is part of this year’s festivities, especially since the fautasi race is the highlight of every Flag Day.”

The fautasi the Fono is using belongs to Fagatogo and the House Speaker and Senate President Gaoteote Tofau Palaie had earlier asked the Fagatogo Village Council if the Fono could use the village fautasi this year.
